UK Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) Visa
The Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) visa category is designed for certain workers with a temporary or short-term job offer in a cultural, charitable, religious or international capacity in the UK. The Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) visa category is part of the UK’s points-based system and includes specific visa subcategories for Creative and Sporting Workers, Charity Workers, Religious Workers, Government Authorised Exchange Participants and International Agreement Workers.
Young people from Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and Monaco who want to come and experience life in the UK may be eligible for a Working Holiday visa under the Tier 5 (Youth Mobility Scheme).
Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) Visa Requirements
To qualify for a Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) visa under the UK points-based system, applicants must score a minimum of 40 points for attributes including sponsorship and maintenance (available funds).
Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) visa applicants must have a Certificate of Sponsorship from a sponsor to claim points for sponsorship.
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for a Certificate of Sponsorship from their sponsor:
- Creative and Sporting Workers: Sportspeople must be internationally established and their employment in the UK must make a significant contribution to the development and running of their sport. Creative workers must be coming to the UK to work or perform in dance, theatre, film or television temporarily.
- Charity Workers: Charity workers must be coming to the UK to undertake voluntary, unpaid work for a charity in the UK.
- Religious Workers: Religious workers must be coming to the UK to preach, undertake pastoral or non-pastoral work or work in a religious order such as a convent or monastery.
- Government Authorised Exchange Participants: Workers participating in an authorised exchange program must be coming to the UK to share knowledge and experience the UK’s cultural life.
- International Agreement Workers:Workers must be coming to the UK under contract to do work covered by international law, including workers under the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS), employees of international governments and private servants in diplomatic households.
Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) visa applicants may also be required to meet certain health and character requirements.
Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) Visa Entitlements
A Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) visa entitles the holder to live and work in the UK temporarily. A Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) visa is usually granted for a maximum period of 12 months for Creative and Sporting Workers and Charity Workers and 24 months for Religious Workers, Government Authorised Exchange Participants and International Agreement Workers. Extensions may be granted to certain applicants under the Creative and Sporting Worker and International Agreement Worker categories.
Spouses and unmarried children under 18 years of age can make their own visa application to accompany their spouse or parent to the UK but applications will be considered separately.

Tier 2 (Sportsperson) Visa
The Tier 2 (Sportsperson) visa allows internationally established sportspersons and coaches to live and work in the UK as a sponsored worker. -
Tier 5 (Youth Mobility Scheme)
The Youth Mobility Scheme allows 18 - 30 year olds from participating countries an opportunity to holiday and work in the UK for up to two (2) years. -
Bulgarians and Romanians
The EEA Association Agreement is designed to allow Bulgarian and Romanian nationals to start their own business or work in the UK. -
Domestic Worker Visa
A Domestic Worker visa allows those employed as domestics in a private household to accompany their employer when they visit or move to the UK. -
Sole Representative Visa
A Sole Representative permit allows a representative of an overseas company to set up a branch or subsidiary of the company in the UK.
