Accordingly, any non - European migrant applying in Cambodia to enter or remain in the UK as the partner of a British citizen or a person settled in the UK will need to demonstrate speaking and understanding English from October 1st, 2012.

Partners applying for Visas to the UK as the husband, wife, civil partner, unmarried partner, same-sex partner, fiance(e) or prospective civil partner of a UK citizen or a person settled in the UK must show one of the following:

  • that you are a national of a majority English-speaking country; or
  • you have passed an English language test approved by the UKBA at the appropriate level; or
  • you hold a degree that was taught in English and is equivalent to a UK bachelors degree or above.

An acceptable English test with one of the UKBA's approved test providers can be used as evidence to meet the requirement of the applicants.
